Hey everybody, Joe here. I’m with Bridget from Flowers to the People, on beautiful Cherokee Street. It’s a beautiful day here, fall day, sun shining. I wanna talk to Bridget about Small Business Saturday coming up. That’s November 25th this year. I guess you’re starting to gear up with some stuff.
Absolutely. Looking forward to Thanksgiving right now. I know a lot of places are decorating for Christmas, but we like to take it one day at a time, so you won’t see any Christmas decorations or evergreens in here until the day after Thanksgiving. I’m not as good as my dates. November 24th would be the day after.
You should come in here just for that, because every other store you go in, there’s Christmas stuff. If you wanna take a break, come on in here.
Absolutely! I find that not everybody likes to rush it, so we’re not talking about the 24th, though the 25th is obviously open to celebrate. On Cherokee Street, which is resplendent with small businesses.
Yes! With Garcia Property teaming up for a giveaway tell me about that.
Absolutely! This is the second year we’ve done it, and we’re switching it up a little bit. Last year we did a gift certificate, which is absolutely fine, but I find if other people are like me, I’ve got gift certificates that I got from Christmas 2016 that are still just sitting around someplace and I forget to use them. Things can go to waste.
Instead of that, we’re gonna be doing a fresh flower arrangement, but to make it a little more exciting, we’re gonna incorporate that into a gift basket with some of the local retail options that we have here at Flowers to the People. By locally, I don’t mean St. Louis City necessarily, but within the region.
Within 100 miles.
The small business layout.
Exactly! Candles, chocolates, plushies and loose leaf tea will be offered as retail options. We try to stock things that you can’t find in other shops on this street. Also, some of them you can’t find anywhere. For instance, I know we are the only retailer within St. Louis that sells soda candles, and they’re in Freebird, Missouri which is in the middle of the state. I drove there once. It was west. I can’t tell you. We have some unique options, so that someone will be able to bid and receive that gift basket and keep some things for themselves, and if you re-gift them to some friends and family, they’ll never know.
If you didn’t win the gift basket, come on down ’cause you won’t see a lot of Christmas decorations yet, and you can see these cool candles.
Absolutely, and plenty of fresh flowers, and order your holiday centerpieces, which we’ll be making custom to order from now until December 25th.
Joe, always a pleasure.
